COLORS
ALUM - RICH REDDISH TAN
COPPER - REDDISH BROWN
TIN - BRIGHT YELLOW (after 25 minutes)
TIN - GOLDEN BROWN (after 1 hour)
CHROME - REDDISH BROWN
All the colors were quite beautiful, very rich and strong.
LIGHTFASTNESS - Not yet tested. Results will be posted after tests done next June.
INGREDIENTS
10 oz. fresh leaves gathered 9/7/98
1 oz. mordanted wool
Water to cover leaves
METHOD
1) Cover leaves with water.
2) Soak overnight.
3) Raise temperature to simmer (just under a boil) for 50 minutes.
4) Cool overnight.
5) Add presoaked yarn and raise temperature to simmer (25 minutes).
Remove some of the tin mordanted yarn for a bright yellow.
6) Continue raising temperature to simmer (15 minutes),
then simmer all remaining yarns (including some tin-mordanted yarn)
for 20 minutes longer.
7) Cool overnight in dyepot.
8) Rinse.
9) Dry in shade.
